Map of the World - Geography

We are learning about maps and the maps of the world.

We learn about the continents of the world.

Did you know that Australia is not a continent?  It is an island.

I have written in the names of the continents and the oceans. I have also drawn in purple where we have travelled.

We have been to New Zealand, Fiji and Vanuatu a few times. We have been to Europe twice and are traveling around Europe now.

Poland - Geography Repot Second Draft

This is my Second draft for my report on Poland. 

Did you know that the name Poland comes from the tribe Polanie which means people living in open fields?

Poland is located in Europe, next to Germany on the right side towards the top. 

The Capital City is Warsaw. Poland is 312,679 km² big. They had 38.53 million people in 2013.   Australia has 23 million and is 7 million km² . That means that you could fit Poland into Australia nearly 23 times.

The official language spoken in Poland is Polish.  They also speak Russian, Vietnamese, Arabic, Greek, Chinese, Bulgarian, Turkish and Hindi.

The government is a democracy. Having a democracy means that the people get a chance to vote every 4 years which party will be governing the country and making the laws. 

The flag has a white eagle which is the national animal. The white eagle is from a tale of the Slavic leaders a long time ago who set out to find where their people should live. The Polish people liked the white eagle.

They use the polish złoty. It looks like this. Eventhough Poland is in the E.U, they have their own currency.

There traditional food include  smoked cheese called Oscypek and  white sausage called Biała kiełbasa.

In Poland they have a festival called Constitution Day. The constitution in 1791 only lasted a year. In November 1918 Poland got its independence, but they still celebrate it. 

If you go to Poland it's suggested to go to the main market square of the city you are in. WHAT FAMOUS CATHEDRALS OR MANSIONS OR CASTLES ARE THERE?

This is my first draft for my report on Poland. I have a list of questions to answer and when I have done this, I will need to make the whole report flow.

Book review Zac power test drive - chapter 1

This book is about test driving and at the same time it's a mission. The mission was to give a other agent a item that is needed.

Chapter 1 is about him being  on his mission and introduces the readers to the cool gadgets and to him.

Zac Power has to fly to an island where frogs have poison on them and are dying.

The frogs are special one of a kind.  The gadgets are amazing and cool.  This book has a recycle used power plane/car and pink parrachute pants

Warwick sale yards

Today we went to the Warwick sale yards. Grandma took Lilly and I as well.  

She gets the fattest lambs and sold them in a auction. The butchers bought them.

There was alot of sheep in the yards that day.

We had to use mathematics to get the answer of there wight. That had 55kg per sheep the butchers will get about 20kg of meat from each sheep.

Geography - the environment - mistletoe.

Mistletoe.

Did you know that mistletoe is the only parasitic plant in the world?

They have unbelievably sticky seeds and beautiful flowers. Mistletoe is like this because they spread easily and they have red flowers. The birds are attracted to the flowers. When the birds poo it out  It sticks to the tree.

It all happens in trees branches and it sucks all the water out of the tree.

Druids used it for potions especially for love ones.

I am learning lots about different environments, landscapes the plants and animals in them for Geography

Zac power

Chapter 1 (shipwrecked)

I love Zac power books. In this one he has to drop 50 m under water from a plane at 150m in the air. To get in a submarine to find a fello agent. I'm exited to read chapter 2

Mangroves

Today we went to the beach and found some mangroves we explored them it was awesome and we Learned how to tell what is what some are brown mangroves and you can tell by the back of the leaf if its white and salty that is what I'm doing in the photo checking if its a brown mangrove yes it was.

Science-parts of a flower

Today in science I learnt about the petal,style,ovary,stamen,sepal,stigma and carpel I did a test about it and I got 6/10 which was good.
