Grimm brothers museum

Today we visited the Grimm brothers museum in Steinau.

Did you know that the Grimm brothers didn't make up the stories?, They went around the town and country side talking to the locals, getting the story's and writing them down. Then they put it all in one book. Some of the story's where little red riding hod, Hansel and Gretel, Cinderella and Snow White.

These story's where not made by Disney at all!!. We could not get any photos but this is the museum.

This is me giving Hansel a twig. There was a witches house outside with poor Hansel in a cage.

Barrows

Burrows are tombs or graves for kings in the Bronze Age. That was a long time ago. It was about 4000 years ago.

A burrow is dirt and rocks built up over the king. Layer after layer of it . They were built high so that the people would know that someone of importance was buried there.

We went to see some today. It was interesting to see what was inside them. This picture is from the top looking down.

Please check for more of my photos on instagram. My name is morganxaviermitchell

Old stables

Today we found the stables in the National Trust place near Penzance.
There was lots of wagons and things about horses in there.

Merry maidens stone circle

These rocks are the merry maidens. They are in a circle which is cool.

Did you know that no one knows how they got there or what they were originally used for.

lands end

Lands end is very cold and it looks like the end of the world.

It would be cool if they had a Bungay jump it would get lots more people to come to the lands end.

There are more photos on intagram.

did I say it was really cold today?

Minack Theatre in Cornwall

The Minack Theatre is big and wonderful in all ways. The sea crashes in the background as a nice plus to the stage.

The theatre was carved out of the cliffs by one lady - all by herself. She was still working on it when she was 80.

We were lucky to get some clear weather to see it.

Here are some shots I got. Find me on Instagram - Morganxaviermitchell is my name - there's more photos there. :)

Truro Cathedral

In Truro there is a medium sized cathedral. Its a nice cosy safe place that has a big choir area and lots of stained glass windows. Stained windows are my favourite bit of churches.

Here are some photos.

I did a panorama one first.

Cornish pasties

:D yum Cornish pasties. What a Cornish pastie is it's pastry with meat and veg in it and it was awesome I took some photos of it. Did you know that the men went down into the mines and the women made them something called a pastie. The outside was as hard as plaster and in side was meat on one side and dessert on the other.

They made like this so they could take it down the mines.

This photo is from a shop showing how you make them.

Welcome to Cornwall

Today we drove 4 hours from Andover to Cornwall. We spent the time listening to music, playing my new game draw wars 2.0 and looking around at all the things we past. Like stone henge.

We have already been to Stonehenge.. But we will go again when the weather is better and we will do some drawings as well there .

It's cold and wet here but our chalet is really nice.  Its got heaters in every room. its just as well because its so cold

this is the normal roads. they are very small

Merlin's kingdom play ground.

Today we went to a indoor play ground. It is like the geckos one, but smaller.

They had a big stuffed horse that was attached to the floor by a spring so it bucked. The play centre had rope climbing walls,  ball pit and three levels of fun.

We went to Tescos afterward and I found a cookie dough milk shake.  How weird is that to have biscuits in a milk drink.  Mum bought it for us for a treat.

Helicopter

Today we saw a two blade helicopter flying past our house. It is called a chinook.  My granddad used to go in them when he was in the army. They are used for carrying troops from base to base. I think there must be a army base close by.

Here are some photos.

Science museum

The science museum was awesome.

Well its so big we only looked at the third floor. It is way better than the Brisbane one. Every time we come to London, we will come to the museum place and look at another floor. There are three museums all in one space.  The Natural Museum, the Science Museum and the V and A.  So I think we will have alot of visits before we see everything.

There was two zones of fun interactive learning games and projects. This is one of them. They are super easy.

This project made me look at circuits. We did Circuits last year with mum and homeschooling.  I found this easy.

Squirrels in Hyde Park.

When we went to feed some Squirrels. I got one to sit on my lap when I fed them. It was so adorable.

The squirrels come and eat nuts out of your hand if you sit still long enough.

Mum loves squirrels.

YHA London

We usually stay at YHAs when we go places.

This YHA is near the St Pauls Cathedral. The YHA was not to bad apart from the three floors of windy stairs. The beds were good and the rooms were really hot which was just as well because it was cold outside. It was nice that they had breakfast and dinner. Its pretty cheap to stay here. I rate it rate it 6/10 :

Ice on water

When we were going to the doctors to get Lilly's broken arm checked up on and mum found some ice with water under it. We picked up some and it was awesome. It was so smooth. It was like glass but lighter and softer.  It broke easily.

I have a piece here and there was a piece of grass frozen into it.

Mum told us never to step on a puddle that is iced over because its dangerous and you don't know how deep it is.

It still hasn't snowed here. We are hoping it might next week.

English pubs

Today we went to a English pub to have Sunday lunch called the Red Door. It was built in the 1600s.
It was really cool  as it was really old and had beams which held the celling up. The ceiling was really low. People must have been small back then.
One of my favourite things was the coat cupboard that was disguised as part of the wall. The food was pretty awesome. So my rating for the red house is an 7 1/2 out of 10. :)  pretty yum.. We had Yorkshire puds and gravy.. wow.. so nice.

Frost

Frost is made of water that settles on plants. That water is called dew.

Only a little bit sets in the morning and night. The dew gets frozen and turns into frost. Here are some photos of where I am at the moment.  Its very cold and very frosty here. We are hoping it will snow soon.

My footprint makes a big mark in the frosted grass.

Transformers ride

The transformers ride was the best because it went back forward and sideways and you got to sit in a Transformer. I would rate it 8/10. It was scary and exciting and lots of fun.

We went on it four times.
